Lynne Jordan, Ricardo Ferreira, and Marcus Rutland took on a 36-mile cycling challenge yesterday to help QMC raise the £11,400 needed to build three new classrooms in Battambang, Cambodia. These will allow children who are living in poverty to gain the academic support they need to succeed in their education – greatly improving their chances of earning a living wage in their adult lives.
15 students from QMC will travel to Battambang, Cambodia, for two weeks this summer to work in the education programme there and to experience a very different culture. The costs of the trip are funded by the UK’s ‘Turing Scheme’ but we have made it our goal as group to raise the money needed to build additional classroom space. The plan is for this to be a regular involvement for the college with students travelling to Cambodia each year moving forward.
