A Call for Help
The Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, a sanctuary where many of our students have volunteered through the Challenges Abroad scheme, has recently faced a devastating flood. The river burst its banks, causing catastrophic damage to the park’s premises and infrastructure. Despite the heroic efforts of the staff to save the majority of the animals in their care, the park has unfortunately suffered losses.
The Impact of the Flooding
The floodwaters inundated the park, leading to significant destruction. Enclosures, medical facilities, and other essential infrastructure have been severely damaged. The park, known for its dedication to the rescue and rehabilitation of elephants, now faces the monumental task of rebuilding and recovering from this disaster.
Losses and Damage
While the staff were able to save many animals, the emotional and physical toll has been immense. The loss of some of the beloved residents of the park is deeply felt by the team and volunteers who have dedicated their lives to their care. The damaged infrastructure further challenges their ongoing efforts to provide a safe haven for the elephants and other animals.
How You Can Help
Your support is crucial during this challenging time. If you are able to assist, please visit the Elephant Nature Park’s website and consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, will aid in the park’s recovery and help ensure that the animals continue to receive the care they need.
Also, when visiting Thailand or any other place, remember that activities like rides, bathing, and feeding often conceal animal exploitation and suffering.
Send a Message of Support
In addition to financial assistance, sending a message of support can provide much-needed encouragement to the dedicated team working tirelessly to rebuild. Your words can offer hope and solidarity to those who are committed to the wellbeing of the park’s residents.
Together, we can help the Elephant Nature Park rise from this adversity, continuing its mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide sanctuary for elephants and other animals in need.
